A new fluoroionophore derived from 4-amino-N-methyl-1,8-naphthalimide

A new azacrown derived from 1,8-naphthalimide was prepared by a two steps reaction from 4-bromo-1,8-naphthalic anhydride. The spectroscopic properties of this flouroionophore are described both in the absence and in the presence of cations; the compound shows a strong affinity with Ca²⁺ and Ba²⁺.
