Based on a spectrokinetic study (simultaneous measurements of the concentrations of surface complexes and reaction rate using in situ IR spectroscopy), a hypothesis is proposed which explains synergism in the reaction of NO reduction by propane on a mechanical mixture of commercial oxide catalysts.
