the two coordinate N atoms of one receptor, only (3) shows the
identical bond length between Co ion and the two coordinate N
atoms of R. For the three complexes with two coordinate receptors,
only complex (1) shows identical two kinds of bond length be-
tween Co ion and the two coordinate receptors (the two N–M bond
length for one receptor are different), which may attribute to the
existence of water molecules.

and five complexes (1–5) of it have been synthesized and charac-
terized successfully. The molecules in R are packed by ꢀ ꢀ ꢀABABꢀ ꢀ ꢀ
fashion, and every two molecules of R coordinated to one metal
ion duo to the present of nitrate ion, while chloride ion and the
existence of co-liangd result in single coordination of receptor.
The water molecules not only play a key role to the final crystal
architectures of the resulted MOFs but also affect the metal–recep-
tor bond length.
The molecular Hirshfeld surface and fingerprint plots of R and
complexes (1–5) revealed that the complexation with transition
metal ions results in the reduction of H–H and N–H contacts in
receptor, and leads to strengthening of C–H and O–H contacts.
