What is the difference between metformin and DPP-4 inhibitors?

Metformin works by reducing the production of glucose in the liver and improving the body's response to insulin. It also helps to decrease the absorption of glucose from the intestines. DPP-4 inhibitorsThis enzyme normally breaks down incretin hormones, such as GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1), which play a role in regulating blood sugar levels.
