  Recently, we and other groups have reported organocatalyzed oxa-Michael-aldol reactions for forming chromenes.3 In the cascade process,  only one stereogenic center in the products was created due to the spontaneous dehydration of the β-hydroxy aldimine (Scheme 1, eq 1).
