  With the optimized reaction conditions in hand, we explored the substituted group scope of 2-naphthylamines (Table 2).  Various N-substituted 2-naphthylamines were successfully applied to react with elemental sulfur and the corresponding  2-substituted naphtho[2,1-d]thiazoles were obtained in good to perfect yields.
