    It was found that large amounts of water could be permitted hydrolysis of MIDA (CAS 4408-64-4) boronates to increase the yield of 3aa12 [Figure 2, H2O (%)a]. Pleasingly,  when a small amount of CF3SO3H (CAS 1493-13-6) (2% of TFA (CAS 76-05-1)) was introduced into the reaction mixture, the yield of product 3aa  could be increased to 89% [Figure 2, CF3SO3H (%)b].
