Infrared and titrimetric procedures for the evaluation of protoveratrine mixtures are reported which are not specific for either protoveratrine A or protoveratrine B. A method for the quantitative estimation of protoveratrine A and protoveratrine B is described in which the alkaloids are separated by paper partition chromatography, eluted, and determined colorimetrically
