Widely tunable difference frequency generation (2.6-7.7 μm) in LITHIUM IODATE (cas 13765-03-2)

Tangential phase-matching has been utilised to increase the conversion efficiency of the difference frequency mixing process for the generation of tunable infrared radiation in the lithium iodate crystal for the first time. Using the Nd: YAG second harmonic and the same pumped dye laser radiations as input fundamental radiation sources, wide tunability has been obtained for 2.6-7.7 μm including the 6-6.7 μm transmission blockage region of the crystal due to two-photon absorption.
