This instrument is also known as a Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) and is used in thermoanalytical experiments that measure the amount of heat required to increase the temperature of an unknown sample compared with that of a reference sample. This type of Calorimeter is usually used in conjunction with a Thermoanalyzer.
