  • Because of the high temperature, babies tend to easily suffer from loss of appetite or diarrhea in summer. So parents always try all kinds of ways to improve the appetite of their babies. Here we will introduce some effective methods for the parents, so as to bring their babies a good appetite and help them spend a safe and healthy summer.

    First of all, provide some foods which are easy to digest and less greasy. Fresh fruits and vegetables are good choices, such as cucumber, tomato and lettuce, which are all rich in vitamin C, carotenoids and inorganic substances. These vegetables can be used to make cold dishes, added with some mashed garlic and vinegar, which can not only improve appetite, but also can help prevent enteric infectious diseases.

    Second, provide more fresh fruit juice to your baby, but you should pay attention that it is inappropriate to drink lots of them before or after the meal. What's more, don't give too much cold drink to babies. As too much cold drink will stimulate the intestines and stomach, leading to inappetence or even vomiting and diarrhea. So parents should strictly control the amount and frequency of cold drink for their babies.

    Third, supplement water in time, preferably plain boiled water. For the babies who sweat a lot, you can appropriately add some sugar in the water. What's more, don't let them drink too much carbonated drinks. Otherwise, it will increase the calcium loss in the body.

    In addition, because of the high temperature in summer, babies tend to sweat more. Apart from the great loss of water, some nutrients will also be easily expelled out of the body along with the sweat, such as sodium, potassium, zinc and calcium. In particular, the lack of potassium will make babies feel down in spirit, which may lead to inappetence. In such a case, they should eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. As fresh vegetables and fruits contain abundant potassium, which can not only provide nutrition, but also can improve the appetite of the babies in summer. Such fruits and vegetables include banana, orange, strawberry, celery, mushroom and potato.

    Last but not the least, pay attention to the ventilation and cooling of the room, so as to create a good rest environment for the babies. All of the above methods can improve the appetite of the baby in the summer.
