  • Because of the abundant nutrition, fruits are very beneficial to human health. However, most people simply think that eating fruits the more the better. However, eating too much fruits may bring side effects to human body, especially for the children. Generally speaking, there are three kinds of fruits that children should not eat too much.

    First, persimmon--may cause stomach stones
    Persimmon is rich in sucrose, glucose, fructose, vitamin C and calcium, phosphorus, iron, and a variety of colloidal materials. If the children suffer from lung heat, cough, or dry stool, eating some persimmons can help them improve the symptoms.

    However, if people often eat a lot of persimmons before the meal, the large number of tannin and colloid in persimmon will form insoluble gelosis after reacting with the gastric acid in the stomach. Small gelosis can be discharged out the body with bowel movement, while the larger gelosis can not be discharged and can only remain in the stomach and form stomach stones, causing stomach pain, vomiting and indigestion. If the children have already suffered from gastritis or gastric ulcer, it may even induce gastric perforation, gastric bleeding and other dangerous complications. Therefore, children should not eat too much persimmons, with 1 or 2 at most every time.

    Second, sugarcane--may easily cause the reproduction of staphylococcus
    Sugarcane contains large amounts of sugar. After the sugar enters into the gastrointestinal tract and is decomposed by the digestive enzymes, it can increase the level of blood sugar in the body. When the concentration of blood glucose is above the normal limit, it can often promote the growth and reproduction of the staphylococcus on the skin. If the staphylococcus invades into the deep part of the skin, it may cause bacteremia. As the same time, too much sugar intake will lower the PH of the blood of the children, and make their physique become acidic. In such a case, the immune function of the children will decline, and they will easily suffer from cold and skin infection. Therefore, children should not eat too much sugarcane, with not more than 50 grams every day.

    Third, citrus--may easily lead to carotenemia
    Citrus contains large amounts of citric acid and malic acid. It is not only nutritious, but also can tonify the spleen, prevent phlegm and stop coughing. It can help treat acute and chronic infections in the respiratory tract and indigestion. However, eating too much citrus will make the carotene content increase a lot in the body, causing carotenemia. Its symptoms include poor appetite, irritability, bad sleep, accompanied by night terrors, crying, somniloquy, etc. Therefore, there should be a reasonable limit for the children to eat citrus, with 2 to 3 at most every day.
