  • Experts point out that inappropriate diet can lead to sleeping difficulty. According to the latest report from foreign media, the U.S. nutritionists recently have listed “seven kinds of foods which may affect the sleep”. These foods are mainly as follows:

    First, caffeine drinks
    As we all know, caffeine has been considered as the main culprit which may lead to insomnia. The nutritionist from United States point out that, although caffeine will not add increase the energy of the body, while it is indeed a stimulant, which may increase the alertness of the body, thus resulting in sleeping difficulty.

    Second, cheese
    Nutrition experts hold that, cheese contains a large number of tyrosine. Tyrosine can help produce dopamine in the body, which is the neurotransmitter of the brain, thus it can make the brain more clear and make people fall asleep much more difficultly.

    Third, spicy food
    Eating too much spicy food at dinner can lead to sleep problems. If the patients who suffer from heartburn eat spicy food at dinner, it will make their disease much worse when they lie down, and will affect their sleep. As a result, experts suggest that it is better to eat spicy food before going to bed.

    Fourth, processed or smoked meat
    Experts point out that, the processed or smoked meat contains a lot of tyrosine, which will make the brain produce dopamine and make people excited. In addition to disrupting sleep, the processed or smoked meat is also the one of the unhealthiest junk foods.

    Fifth, alcohol
    Alcohol has a sedative effect, but it is strange that drinking alcohol will lead to sleeping difficulty at night. Experts point out that, many people try to relax themselves by drinking alcohol, but in fact, alcohol will prevent the body from entering into REM (rapid eye movement) deep sleep stage. Because of this, although many people have sound sleep after drinking, they will still feel very dizzy and sleepy the next day.

    Sixth, milk chocolate
    Milk chocolate contains tyrosine. Tyrosine will change into the stimulant——dopamine, which will make people alert and awake at night, toss and turn, and unable to fall asleep.

    Seventh, ginseng tea
    Some kinds of herbal tea have the effect of promoting sleep, but it is best not to add ginseng in. Some people may not have any reaction after drinking ginseng tea, but some others will suffer from insomnia and blood pressure problems after drinking.
