- Unhealthy Diets Carry off a Good Night's Sleep
-
There are many factors causing insomnia, such as the life stress, the sickness and so on. But you probably overlook your diet habits which make you toss and turn in the bad every night.
1. A fancy and greasy diner: if you eat too much or take some food rich in fat, you need more time to digest it. As a result, you can not sleep at night.
What you need to do is arrange your fancy meal at breakfast or lunch. Eat less and bland food at diner. You’d better choose some food high in protein, but low in fat, such as fish, chicken, or lean meat. There is another advantage of such diet, .i.e. avoiding getting fat. According to some research, calories taken in the morning can be best utilized by human bodies.
2. Drink or east food containing : many a person doesn’t have a good sleep because they drink too much coffee. Caffeine in coffee stimulates the nervous system and makes people heart beat fast and blood pressure arise. It also reduces the secretion of melatonin which helps sleep. Maybe you can cheer yourself up when you drink a cup of coffee or tea in the morning, or dink a can of cola at noon.
But some people are sensitive to caffeine. They are not able to sleep even if they drink a cup of hot chocolate in the afternoon. What’s more, caffeine increases urine and you can frequently visit the toilet at mid-night. In this case, it is hard for you to have a good night’s sleep.
3. Drink some wine to help sleep: a lot of people do so, but they can wake up for many times during the night. And when they get up the next day, they can feel terrible, unexpectedly tired.
There are studies showing that alcoholics have difficulty in sleep. They are easy to wake up at mid-night, and they have little deep sleep. Thus, alcoholics spend much more time to get to sleep and often don’t have a good sleep.
4. Some food causes abdominal flatulence: if your abdomen is full of gases, you feel too uncomfortable to sleep. Thus, you need to eat less food that yields gas.
The following food can yield gas: beans, cabbage, onion, broccoli, brussels sprout, green pepper, eggplant, potato, sweet potato, taro, corn, banana, bread, oranges, and drinks and dessert that contain sorbitol.
5. Spicy food disturbs your sleep: peppers, garlic, and onions cause heartburn and thus influences your sleep.
