NB-Enantride, prepared by hydroboration of nopol benzyl ether with 9-borabicyclo<3.3.1>nonane (9-BBN) followed by treatment with tert-butyllithium, is a new asymmetric reducing agent which is especially effective for aliphatic ketones such as 2-butanone.
