A new synthesis has been described for the monometallated binuclear complexes of the type (M=Pd, Pt; E=P, As).The halogenbridged binuclear palladium and platinum complexes are readily obtained by the oxidative addition of o-bromobenzyldiorgano-phosphines and -arsines, respectively to M(dba)2 (dba=dibenzylideneacetone).The resulting compounds are characterized by NMR spectroscopic data.The reactions with PPh3 and o-LiC6H4CH2PPh2 have been discussed.
