Synthesis of diverse l,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid (Tic) derivatives and its higher analogues are reported using diethyl acetamidomalonate as a glycine equivalent. In addition, various substituted Tic derivatives are assembled by application of SuzukiMiyaura cross-coupling reaction as a key step.
