the ‘‘T”-shaped conformation of the [PNP] ligand does not maxi-
mize the Ga–P bonding interactions in this system.

In conclusion, [MePNPPh] represents a new member of a grow-
ing class of [PNP] donor ligands. The lithium derivative [MePNPPh]-
Li reacts with GaCl3 and InX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) to give a series of
[MePNPPh]MX2 complexes, thereby demonstrating that this class
of ligands may have useful applications in main group chemistry.
