β-Keto phenylsulfones can be readily desulfonylated with excess tri-n-butylstannane and AIBN, when heated at reflux in toluene, to provide the corresponding ketones in good-to-excellent yields.The reaction proceeds under neutral conditions and is compatible with a wide variety of functionalities.
