Exciton Cotton effects for the transition at 250-230 nm of polyol p-chlorobenzoates with different configurations and conformations have been determined by adding contributions due to pairs of secondary p-chlorobenzoates (core) to the contributions due to terminal (primary) p-chlorobenzoate groups.The Cotton effects of a series of acyclic sugar poly-p-chlorobenzoates have been compared.
