In conclusion, we have developed a new organocatalyst
5,11,17,23-tetrabutyl-25-[2-(diphenylphosphino)benzoate]-
26,27,28-trihydroxycalix[4]arene (LB3)9 to promote the
aza-MBH reactions of N-sulfonated imines with MVK
under mild conditions in the presence of acidic addi-
tives.10 The corresponding aza-MBH adducts can be ob-
tained in good to excellent yields (up to 96%). Efforts are
in progress to develop other derivatives of calix[4]arene
as organocatalysts and to explore other applications of
these new organocatalysts.
