The dimesitylenopentylgermene Mes₂Ge= CHCH₂-t-Bu (3) was synthesized in high yield by an addition-elimination reaction between dimesitylvinylfluorogermane and tert-butyllithium. It is stable at room temperature and is highly reactive toward etectrophilic and nucleophilic reagents.
