Reaction of O-mesylcyanohydrins of furanos-2'-ulosyl cytosine with bases afforded β-D-arabino- and ribo-2'-spiro substituted nucleosides.Two of them exist, in solution, as mixtures of rotationally restricted "syn-anti" isomers.
