Novel synthesis of β-halo-α,β-unsaturated ketones

Novel methods have been developed for the transformation of unsymmetrical 1,3-diketones to β-halo-α,β-unsaturated ketones. These new methods complement known syntheses of this functional group, allowing efficient access to a previously unattainable regioisomer.
