Synthesis of salicylamide and bipyridine containing ligands for iron(II) and iron(III) coordination

The synthesis and characterization of potential iron sequestering agents is reported. Both single-stranded ligands incorporating salicylamides for chelation of iron(III) and bipyridines for iron(II) as well as tripodal systems have been synthesized.
