The conversion of aldehydes RCHO into terminal conjugated dienes RCH=CH-CH=CH2 with (E) stereochemistry was carried out at room temperature with 1-bromo-3-iodopropene in the presence of SnCl2.Starting from an unsaturated aldehyde, a terminal conjugated trien was obtained in the same conditions.
