The synthesis of β- and α-rotunols, two sesquiterpene alcohols isolated from nutgrass (Cyperus rotundus Linne), is described.This synthesis study also involves revision of the structure of a stress metabolite :1-keto-α-cyperone" isolated from Burley and flue-cured tobaccos (Nicotiana tabacum L.).
