The reactions of oxygen, sulphur, and selenium with the complexes <(triphos)Co(η²-CS2)> and <(triphos)Co(η²-CS2Me)>BPh4 are described; these reactions provide evidence for the carbenoid nature of the metal-(η²-CS2) and metal-(η²-CS2Me) moieties.
