Barium-Selective Electrodes Based on Neutral Carriers and Their Use in the Titration of Sulfate in Combustion Products

Highly lipophilic, electrically neutral ionophores for Ba²⁺-selective solvent polymeric membrane electrodes has been prepared.Sensors based on such ionophores exhibit a rejection of alkali metal ions of about 10³.They are suitable for the titration of SO^2-₄ with Ba²⁺ in nonaqueous systems.More than 100 titrations may be performed with no loss in the electromotive behavior of the electrodes.
