The cations ⁺ (II-IV; E = S,Se,Te; R = CH3, n-C4H9, t-C4H9, C6H5) and <(C5H5Fe(CO)2)2(μ-REER)>²⁺ (V; E = S, Se, Te; R = C6H5) are prepared by treatment of BF4 (I) with REER ligands.The spectroscopic data indicate the absence of ?-bonding in the coordinated REER ligand (R = CH3).Unlike the corresponding disulfide complex, BF4 (IIIb, R = C6H5) shows a dynamic process, which is interpreted as a 1,2-shift.On the other hand, in BF4 (IVb; R = C6H5) no splitting of the phenyl group in the 13C NMR spectrum is observed, even at 200 K.
