We are hence optimistic that this new class of NHC catalysts will
find use in various reactions and may lead to novel
transformations and selectivity that are not amenable with
traditional catalysts.
Further investigations on chiral and achiral modifications in
cluster and backbone fine-tuning as well as altering the reaction
profile of this new catalyst class will be reported in due course.

[18] We like to point out that by "electron-withdrawing group" we attribute
the negative inductive effect of the carborane cluster towards the
carbon-centered substituent, but do not label the cluster itself electron-
deficient; for details, see: a) R. N. Grimes in Carboranes, Academic
Press, New York, 2nd edition, 2011, pp. 17–18; as an example for the
differences in electronic character as a function of vertex attachement
(C or B), see: b) see ref. 2c.
