2,4,6-Triphenylpyrylium tetrafluoroborate(TPP⁺)-sensitized oxygenation has been carried out for several arylalkanes in dichloromethane. Direct evidence for deprotonation of a cation radical was obtained, and interesting structural effects on the deprotonation efficiency was observed.
