Catalysis of the water-gas shift reaction by supported Ru3(CO)12 with 2,2′-bipyridine

Heterogeneous catalysis of he water-gas shift reaction by Ru₃(CO)₁₂ with 2,2′-bipyridine on various inorganic supports was studied in a flow reactor (T = 100-150°C, P(CO) = 7.0 bar). Silica gel, magnesium silicate and Y, X and mordenite zeolites in Na form were found suitable support materials for the catalyst. The highest activity, 8170 mol H₂/mol Ru₃(CO)₁₂ per 24 h, was obtained with magnesium silicate carrier at 150°C.
