Phase transfer catalyzed synthesis of N,N′-diaryl-1,2-phenylene dioxydiacetamides

The title compounds 3 were prepared in high yield via the reaction of 1,2-phenylenedioxydiacetyl chloride with various substituted aromatic amines under the condition of liquid-liquid phase transfer catalysis, using polyethylene glycol-400 as the catalyst.
