process with (Z)-3-iodo-3-phenylacrylaldehyde and
propargyl alcohol as the materials: to a suspension of

BuOK (25 mmol) in dry THF (50 mL) was charged (Z)-
3-iodo-3-phenylacrylaldehyde (20 mmol) at room tem-

tion mixture was quenched with saturated aqueous
NH4Cl solution, extracted with ethyl ether, and dried
over anhydrous Na2SO4. After evaporation, chromatog-

THF were added CuI (40 mg. 0.2 mmol) and PdCl2
