Stilbene Z-2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-3,4-diphenylhex-3-ene isomerized to its Z-isomer with an unusually low rotational barrier, ΔH(excit) = 31.2+/-1.3 and ΔS(excit) = -4.8+/-3.1.Theoretical calculations are discussed.
