  In initial experiments, we screened proline 5, proline derivatives 6–7, and chiral pyrrolidines 8–9 for their ability to catalyze the reaction between dibenzyl amine-derived aminomethyl ether 1 and isovaleraldehyde 2a under different reaction conditions. A few of them are shown in Table 1.
