    The UV/Vis absorption spectra of ligand 1 and its copper complexes (Fig. 8A) in methanol display bands characteristic of quinoline and pyridine chromophores. All spectra show similar patterns with two major transitions (207 and 232 nm) and a set of poorly resolved peaks at 250–330 nm.
