  • People need to eat less salt. The dry weather of winner harms the respiratory system, easy to get infection of the upper respiratory tract. Then if the diet contains much salt, the secretion of saliva can be decreased. And thus, various bacteria are easier to survive in the upper respiratory tract. What’s more, salty diets can reduce themucous membrane’s ability of anti- diseases. Therefore, bacteria and viruses can come in and result in inflammation. 

    It is very dry in winner, especially in some northern areas where rooms are heated, people always feel mouth parched and tongue scorched. They have celostomia, cough, and dry skin. All signal the body lacks water. So how can we ease the dryness by diets?

    First of all, people need to eat more acidic fruit because it is rich in vitamin c and e which moisturize the skin. Vitamin c promotes the synthesis of collagens which make the skin smooth and moisturized. Vitamin e is an effective anti- oxidant, promoting the metabolism, improving the blood cycle, and strengthening the cell vitality. Research shows that the more acidic fruit contains more vitamin c, such as kiwi fruit, hawthorn, apple, pear and oranges.

    Acidic fruit contains tannic acid, organic acid, and fibers which increase the secretion of digestive juice and promote gastrointestinal peristalsis. Besides, fruit contains more than 70% water. And thus, a fruit per day can supply with water in dry winner.

    Next, “white foods” nourish and moisturize the lung, such as white turnip, Chinese cabbage, white gourd, lily, tremella and lotus root and nuts. Among the above foods, white turnip and Chinese cabbage are economical and effective. White turnip contains many kinds of vitamins and minerals. Vitamin c is 8- 10 times more than that of pears and apples. Chinese cabbage is rich in vitamin c and e, which prevent the dry skin. Besides, its fibers promote gastrointestinal peristalsis. People can stew some white gourd soup, white turnip soup, and Chinese cabbage soup to supply the body with water, better than the effect of drinking boiled water.

    Finally, eat less salt. Compared with the cool dishes in summer, in winner, people prefer to cook and stew hot dishes which have a heavy flavor. Thus, much more salt is put into dishes. But in winner, it is dry, salty diets can decrease the secretion of salvia which results in more bacteria in the upper respiratory tract. And thus, in winner, people should pay more attention to control the intake of salt.
