Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by chloroethane and Al. This reaction will need chloroethane.

 

Uses of Dichloro(ethyl)alumane: it can be used to produce 1-phenyl-propan-1-one at temperature of 20 °C. This reaction will need reagent CH2Cl2 with reaction time of 3 hours. The yield is about 73%.
