The reaction of 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3-chloropiperidine-1-oxyl with ammonia results in the formation of 3-amino-4-hydroxyimino-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl.Reduction of 3-Amino-4-hydroxyimino-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl to 3,4-diamino-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine , protection of the primary amino groups by acylation, followed by oxidation of the secondary amino group to a radical and removal of the acyl protection resulted in the formation of 3,4-diamino-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl.
