The exhaustive thermolysis of (cp = η⁵-C5H5) in toluene for 48 h at 80 deg C led to the isolation of (ca. 24percent), (14.4percent), (37.2percent) and in minute amounts.Thin-layer chromatography and proton NMR spectral monitoring showed the formation of and from the intermediate <2Te>.Under thermolytic conditions, and undergo reversible transformation with simultaneous formation of .The structures of three of the complexes were established by X-ray diffraction analysis.
