The reaction of the tridentate rigid ligand PNP (2,6-bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)pyridine) with RuCl2(PPh3)3 led to the formation of two new ruthenium(II) complexes, RuCl2(PNP)(PPh3) (1) and [RuCl(MeCN)(PNP)(PPh3)]Cl (2), which were analytically and spectroscopically characterized. The X-ray diffraction study of 1 shows that the PNP ligand coordinates Ru in a meridional mode, and reveals some steric congestion within the complex. Copyright
