The photocyclization of 2-<2-(2-chlorophenyl)vinyl>-6-methylpyridine and 2-<2-(2-chlorophenyl)vinyl>quinoline in acetonitrile afforded new compounds 1-methylbenzoquinolizinium salt and dibenzoquinolizinium salt in 56percent and 41percent yields, respectively.
