The reaction of dibenzylthiocarbamoyl chloride with sodium nitrite in acetonitrile at room temperature yields N-nitrosodibenzylamine, dibenzylcarbamoyl chloride, bis(dibenzylcarbamoyl) disulfide, benzaldehyde, and benzyl isothiocyanate; possible mechanisms for the formation of these products are suggested.
