In tetrahydrofuran with tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate as supporting electrolyte, 1e electrochemical oxidation of ^- gives Co2(CO)8; in the presence of dimethylphenylphosphine (DMPP), the process consumes two electrons and ⁺ is obtained.The same cation is also obtained by 2 F axidation of ^- in the presence of DMPP.In all cases a radical intermediate is formed.
