The unusual wavelength dependent product selectivity observed upon irradiation of a substituted 2,5-cyclohexadien-1-one is shown to result from wavelength dependent quantum yields for rearreangement of the primary photoproduct bicyclo<3.1.0>hexenones.Reaction selectivity can be optimized by careful choice of irradiation wavelength and length of irradiation time.
