Oscillations and Mechanism: Catalyzed O2 Oxidation of Cyclohexanone

A variety of oscillations has been observed in the Co, Br^--catalyzed O2 oxidation of cyclohexanone.They are found in the redox potential, the concentrations of dissolved O2, 3+>, and ->, conductivity, and in chemiluminescence.A kinetic model based on generation of Co³⁺ by reactions of Co²⁺ with the following substituted cyclohexanone and ring-opened peracids simulates the observed oscillating behaviors.
