The conversion of the diphenylphosphine complex 1 into the diphenylphosphido complex 2 under a pressure of CO and the conversion of 2 into the ethyldiphenylphosphine complex 3 in the presence of ethylene and water have been studied; high-yield syntheses for the known complex 2 are also reported.
