The adoption of a cis-bent structure by bis(diphenylphosphino)acetylene (dppa) in facilitates the formation of <(Et2NCS2)2(OC)W(μ-dppa)Co2(μ-CO)2(CO)4>, in which the dppa moiety bridges a cobalt-cobalt bond, and <(Et2NCS2)2(OC)W(μ-dppa)Mo(CO)4>, in which the dppa moiety is chelated to a molybdenum centre.
